Thai Farmers Bank FC (Thailand)
Founded in 1987 as the works team of the Thai Farmers Bank (now part of Kasikornbank), the club competed in Thailand’s top flight during the 1990s. It won the Thai Premier League in the mid-1990s and claimed the prestigious AFC Asian Club Championship (the precursor to the AFC Champions League) in consecutive seasons: 1993–94 and 1994–95. These remain among the highest achievements by any Thai club in Asian competition. The side also participated multiple times in the Asian Club Championship and other domestic cups.
Financial difficulties and changes in the banking sector contributed to the club’s decline. Thai Farmers Bank F.C. withdrew from professional football and was dissolved around 2000. Its legacy lives on as one of Thailand’s most successful clubs of the 1990s era, particularly for its back-to-back Asian titles at a time when Thai football was rising on the continental stage.
