Étoile du Sud de Foumbouni (Comoros)

Étoile du Sud de Foumbouni (also referred to as Étoile du Sud de Fomboni or similar variants) is a historical Comorian football club from Foumbouni (on Grande Comore / Ngazidja) that was prominent in the early years of organized national competitions but has long since faded from the top levels and is effectively defunct as a competitive elite side.

The club emerged in the post-independence period when football was becoming more structured on the islands (the Comoros Football Federation was founded in 1979). It won the inaugural Coupe des Comores in 1979–80 (defeating Faigaffe Ouani 1–0) and claimed consecutive national league titles in 1990–91 and 1991–92.

These successes came during a time when Comorian football was still largely regional and amateur, with limited infrastructure and resources across the three main islands (Grande Comore, Anjouan, and Mohéli). Like many early clubs (including others mentioned in historical accounts such as Rapide Club, founded 1953, or Citadelle), Étoile du Sud struggled to maintain momentum amid political instability, economic constraints, and the fragmented nature of the league system (which remains divided into island championships before a national phase).
