AS Police (The Republic of Congo)
Founded in 1989 as the sporting arm of the national police force, the club rose to prominence in the early 2000s. It won the Congo Premier League (Championnat National) twice—in 2002 (defeating Étoile du Congo 2–1 in the final) and 2005—and finished as runners-up in 2004 and 2007. It also claimed the Coupe du Congo in 2001.
On the continental stage, AS Police reached the semi-finals of the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 2002 (eliminated by Ghana’s Asante Kotoko after a 0–4 away loss and 3–2 home win) and participated in the CAF Champions League. In 2005 it reached the final of the UNIFFAC Club Cup, losing to Gabon’s Téléstars FC.
The club’s decline set in during the late 2000s and early 2010s amid broader challenges in Congolese football, including financial difficulties, political instability, and organizational issues. It ceased meaningful activities around 2012–2013 and is listed as disbanded by 2013.
