Loyola Agila FC (Philippines)
Founded in 2006 as Loyola Agila FC (an alumni side linked to Ateneo), the club was acquired by Meralco in 2011 and rebranded as Loyola Meralco Sparks. It became one of the leading teams in the United Football League (UFL), the top competition at the time, and later competed in the inaugural Philippines Football League (PFL) in 2017. The club was based in Metro Manila and played home matches at venues including Rizal Memorial Stadium.
They won the 2013 UFL Cup and the 2015 PFF National Men’s Club Championship. The side finished third in the first PFL season.
In early 2018, the club announced it was folding due to financial difficulties and an inability to secure new investors, despite efforts by the board and management. This reduced the number of teams in the young PFL and marked the end of an 11-year run. Players were released and assisted in finding new clubs.
