🇳🇵 Deurali Club (Nepal)

Deurali Club (Nepal)

Deurali Club was a prominent early Nepalese football club that competed in the top flight during the formative years of organized domestic football and is now a Forgotten Football Club.

It won the Martyr’s Memorial A-Division League (then the top national championship) on two occasions in the 1968–69 and 1970–71 seasons. These titles place it among the successful sides of the late 1960s and early 1970s, alongside clubs such as Mahabir Club and the emerging Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT).

Deurali Club belonged to the generation of community-based or neighborhood teams that dominated Nepalese football before the rise of more professional or departmental clubs (such as those backed by the army, police, or business interests) in later decades. Like many peers from that era—including Friends Union (1967–68 champions), Bidya Byama (1963–64 champions), and Sunakhari Athletic Club—it eventually faded from competitive play. Reasons typically included financial difficulties, relegations from which recovery proved impossible, lack of sustained sponsorship, and the evolving structure of the league system under the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
