🇱🇷 Bame Monrovia (Liberia)

Bame Monrovia (Liberia)

Bame Monrovia (also known as Bame or Great Bame FC in some early references) was a historic Liberian football club based in Monrovia that is now a Forgotten Football Club.

Founded in 1934, it is widely regarded as one of the earliest (and possibly the first) organized football clubs in Liberia. It was among the founding members of the Liberian Premier League when the competition began in 1956 and remained a top-flight side for decades.

The club never won the national league title despite its long presence in the top division. Its most notable international appearance came in the 1975 African Cup of Champions Clubs (the precursor to the CAF Champions League), where it was eliminated in the first round by Lomé I of Togo (aggregate 1–4: 0–1 away, 1–3 at home).

Bame played its home matches at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia (capacity around 10,000). It finished 6th in the 1997 Premier League season and reached the second round of the Liberian Cup that year before folding later in 1997 due to financial difficulties.
