🇧🇹 Yeedzin FC (Bhutan)

Yeedzin FC (Bhutan)

Yeedzin FC (also known as Yeedzin Football Club) was a Bhutanese football club based in Thimphu that competed in the country’s top divisions before dissolving in 2016 due to financial constraints.

Founded in 2002 by Jigme N. Norbu (who also played as a midfielder for the side), the club quickly rose through the ranks. It finished as runners-up in the B-Division in its debut season and earned promotion to the A-Division (then the top flight, later known as the Thimphu League/Bhutan Super League) for 2003. Its home ground was Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu.

Yeedzin became one of Bhutan’s most successful clubs in the late 2000s and early 2010s:
It won A-Division titles (4) in 2008 (unbeaten), 2010 (unbeaten), 2011, and 2013.

It competed in the National League / Bhutan Premier League and won the title in 2012–13 (unbeaten campaign), defeating Drukpol in the process and earning prize money of Nu 400,000. It was runners-up the following year.

It represented Bhutan in the AFC President’s Cup on four occasions (2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013)—a feat matched by few other Bhutanese sides—but struggled at continental level, losing all 12 of its group-stage matches while scoring only a handful of goals overall.

After its peak, results declined. By around 2014 it was no longer regularly qualifying for the national top flight, and financial difficulties led to the club’s dissolution in 2016.
