V.V. Cicerone (Suriname)
The club originated as an artistic dance club founded on October 26, 1910. It evolved into a multisport organization (including korfball, basketball, and football). The football branch was officially established on January 22, 1929.
Cicerone quickly rose through the ranks of the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond (SVB) leagues. It became one of the first clubs to compete in the Hoofdklasse (top division, later known as the Eerste Klasse) and achieved remarkable early success. The team played home games at the Suriname Stadion in Paramaribo (capacity around 3,000).
In 1933, it played a historic international friendly—the first match in Suriname against a Venezuelan club (Deportivo Español), drawing 1-1 and extending an impressive unbeaten run at the time.
Cicerone enjoyed a golden era with four consecutive national league titles, winning the SVB Hoofdklasse championship in 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, following promotion in 1931.
It also excelled in cup competitions during the 1930s, winning the Dragtenbeker (Dragten Cup) in 1932, 1933, the Emancipatiebeker (Emancipation Cup) in 1933, 1936.
and the Cup Bueno in 1933 (and reportedly another in some records however they cant be clarified)
After its dominant run, performance dipped. A faction split off in 1937 to form V.V. Arsenal. The club dropped to lower divisions and last competed in the Tweede Klasse (second division) in the 1957–58 season, finishing 8th. It dissolved around 1958.
