🇲🇹 Gozo F.C (Malta)

Gozo F.C. (Malta)

Gozo F.C. (also known as Gozo Football Club) was a Maltese football club based on the island of Gozo.

The club were founded in 1987,
Gozo, the second-largest island of the Maltese archipelago, known for its distinct identity from mainland Malta.

Gozo has its own football ecosystem under the Gozo Football Association (GFA, founded 1936), separate from the main Malta FA leagues, though some Gozitan clubs have historically competed in Maltese national competitions.

Gozo F.C. represented an attempt to field a unified or prominent side from the island in broader Maltese football.

It participated in Maltese football structures and had a presence in lower divisions or representative contexts.

Its short lifespan reflected challenges like limited resources, competition from local Gozitan clubs, and the logistical difficulties of operating on a smaller island.

After disbandment, Gozo's football continued through the GFA's own leagues (e.g., Gozo Football League First Division), which feature multiple village-based clubs.

Gozo F.C. is listed among defunct teams that had brief top-flight or competitive exposure.

Today, Gozo's football thrives at a regional level with its own cups and leagues, and the island even fields a representative team in non-FIFA competitions.
