🇳🇿 Football Kingz FC (New Zealand)

🇳🇿 The Football Kingz FC (also known as Auckland Kingz or simply the Kingz) were New Zealand's first fully professional football (soccer) club. Based in Auckland, they competed in Australia's National Soccer League (NSL) from the 1999–2000 season to the 2003–04 season.

Founded in 1999 as Auckland Kingz Football Club, they were restructured/replaced by the New Zealand Knights for the new A-League in 2004

They played their games at the Primarily North Harbour Stadium, also Mt Smart Stadium.

They represented New Zealand's first entry into a top-tier Australian professional competition, giving local talent a pathway closer to home and professional experience.

The club was initially planned as "Kings" but changed to "Kingz" due to legal issues with an Australian basketball team the Sydney Kings.

They played five seasons in the NSL but never qualified for the finals/play-offs.

Their best finishes were 8th place in the first two seasons. Their performance declined afterward amid financial issues, coaching changes, and the broader struggles of the NSL (which was replaced by the A-League).

The Kingz faced ongoing financial and performance struggles, especially in later seasons. In 2004, they were effectively restructured into the New Zealand Knights for the inaugural A-League.

The Knights also struggled and were replaced by the Wellington Phoenix in 2007. Today, Auckland has Auckland FC in the A-League.
