FK Proleter Zrenjanin (Serbia)
The club were founded on the 27th June 1947 in Zrenjanin, Vojvodina region, Serbia (then part of Yugoslavia).
Proleter was a classic Yugoslav-era club that spent much of its existence in the second and third tiers but had periods in the top flight (Yugoslav First League / Serbian SuperLiga equivalents).
It represented the working-class industrial town of Zrenjanin and was known for solid, competitive teams in the Vojvodina region.
The club reached its highest levels in the 1970s–1990s, with occasional top-division spells. Like many clubs from smaller cities in the former Yugoslavia, it struggled with finances after the breakup of the country in the 1990s. By the early 2000s, mounting debts led to its dissolution in late 2005.
After dissolution, the name and some traditions occasionally resurfaced in lower leagues or fan initiatives, but the original club is considered defunct.
It fits the common pattern in Serbian (and ex-Yugoslav) football: regional clubs that thrived under the old system but faded amid post-1990s economic challenges.
