The club formed in 2005 through a merger of FC Café Opera United (which rose quickly from the lower divisions) and Väsby IK FK (the football section of a multi-sport club).
It acted as a feeder club to the bigger Stockholm side AIK. This made it one of the youngest clubs to compete in Sweden’s second tier (Superettan) at the time.
They played home matches at Vilundavallen (capacity around 4,000).
They has mixed fortunes playing in the lower tiers of Swedish football. In 2005, their debut season, they finished 9th in the Superettan (Tier 2). However their second season was a disaster as they finished 14th and were relegated.
2007 saw the club play in Division 1 Norra (Tier 3) which they finished 2nd and gained promotion. While the
2008 and 2009 seasons in the Superettan saw the club finish mid-table on both occasions (9th and 12th).
2010 saw the club once again relegated from the Superettan after finishing 16th. The 2011 season in Division 1 Norra saw a 2nd place finish but the club failed to gain promotion while the 2012 season in the Division 1 Norra saw aa major drop off with the club finishing 11th.
They never quite stabilized in the second tier but showed occasional promise with promotion pushes.
Their average attendances were modest, often under 500 in lower divisions, though they drew bigger crowds (over 8,000) for cup ties against AIK at RÃ¥sunda Stadium.
In 2012, the club rebranded and relocated, becoming AFC United (later AFC Eskilstuna). This effectively ended FC Väsby United as an independent entity. The name and setup dissolved as part of efforts to create a more ambitious project, though the local area still has other football activity.
