Deportivo Jalapa (Guatemala)

Deportivo Jalapa (often simply called Jalapa) was a professional football club based in Jalapa, Guatemala. Founded in 1978, it became one of the few departmental (provincial) teams to win the Liga Nacional (top flight), claiming the Apertura 2007 and Clausura 2009 titles.

The club spent multiple seasons in the top division and represented a rare success story for a side from outside the traditional power centers of Guatemala City and Quetzaltenango. It was one of only a handful of interior teams to lift the national championship. Financial and administrative problems eventually overwhelmed it, leading to its disappearance in 2011.
