🇧🇭 Al-Wahda (Bahrain)

Al-Wahda (Bahrain)

Al-Wahda (also known as Al-Wehda or al-Wahda), a Bahraini football club based in Manama that existed until it merged into Al-Najma Club in 2002.

It competed for years in the top-tier Bahraini Premier League (with relegation after 1983/84 and a return by 1988/89). In its final known top-flight season around 1995/96 it struggled badly (reportedly earning no points) and dropped to the lower divisions before the merger.

Its main successes came in the King’s Cup (previously Amir/Federation Cup). It reached the final five times and won three titles (1988, 1992, and 1994). It is credited with three King’s Cup wins overall in historical tallies.

The 2002 restructuring of Bahraini football involved several amalgamations to reduce the number of clubs and professionalize the league. Al-Wahda was one of the clubs that combined (with others) to form the new Al-Najma Club.
