PAS Tehran F.C. (Iran)
PAS competed in Iran’s top divisions for decades and was one of the country’s most successful sides, especially in the pre- and early post-revolution eras. Key honours included:
They had multiple Iranian league titles (sources commonly credit it with five championships overall, making it one of the most decorated clubs historically).
They had strong performances in the Takht Jamshid Cup and later competitions.
In the 1992–93 Asian Club Championship they were winners — the only Iranian club to claim Asia’s top club trophy in that era (often highlighted as Iran’s last such success for many years).
The team played its home matches at PAS Stadium (capacity around 8,250). It produced and featured notable Iranian players and coaches over the years and maintained a competitive presence into the Iran Pro League (Persian Gulf Pro League) era.
By the mid-2000s, PAS Tehran faced challenges common to many Iranian clubs: limited commercial revenue, reliance on institutional (police/state-linked) funding, and low attendances amid Tehran’s crowded football scene (dominated by Persepolis and Esteghlal). In the 2006–07 season it finished 11th in the Pro League.
In late May/early June 2007, authorities decided to dissolve the Tehran-based senior team as part of efforts to reduce the number of low-attendance clubs in the capital and redistribute resources. The club’s league participation rights were transferred to a newly formed side, **PAS Hamedan**, with players and staff relocated to Hamedan. The broader Pas multi-sport club continued in amateur and youth activities, but the professional football team in Tehran ended.
